Multi-tasking tongs

Most people are familiar with the user-friendly squeeze-and-grab nature of tongs. Their long, tapered design is especially handy for small portions of foods without getting your hands too close to the heat of the grill.

On the grill, BBQ tongs have a variety of uses: they can transfer raw meats to your grill, take cooked meats from your grill to your platter, and they can turn and rotate hard-to-handle foods like veggies without crushing them. Just be careful not to use tongs on anything that is delicate or won’t hold up well to compression—that’s where spatulas come in. Also, be sure you wash tongs thoroughly after touching raw meat or better yet, have one pair for raw meat and another set for moving and serving cooked meats to avoid cross-contamination.

Slip-under spatulas

There’s an art to a good flip on the grill, and the artist’s primary tool is a quality, wide spatula. BBQ spatulas are ideal for handling delicate foods or foods that may stick on the grill and fall apart. A proper BBQ spatula is able to slip seamlessly under these delicate foods and keep them together for the flip and the transfer to your dinner plate (so you can transfer the delicious taste straight to your lips!).

Skewers for the spit

Juicy pieces of meat, veggies, fruit, shrimp and more… it’s hard to go wrong with a tasty grilled kebab fresh from the BBQ grill. This is where your new BBQ skewers come in handy: metal flat-blade BBQ skewers allow you to securely keep a number of morsels of food together on the grill, and make for easy turning and rotation. They’re also reusable.

Just be sure to plan out your skewer food selection very strategically: if you’re mixing a variety of types of food on one skewer, be sure that all items on each skewer take about the amount of time to cook—otherwise you might end up with a skewer with overcooked meat and undercooked vegetables, or vice versa.

When it comes to BBQ, the choice is yours: grill smart, or get ready for disappointment. We hope you make the right decision, with a little help from our BBQ tips and tools.
